What You’ll Do:
The Life Coach promotes continued student engagement in The Excel Center and serves as a student advocate. The Coach guides student learning and productivity by building relationships with students. Coaches provide resources to remove barriers impeding the student’s educational progress. Coaches perform case management duties while tending to individual student needs. The Life Coach is an integral member of The Excel Center staff to ensure each individual student is meeting graduation requirements.
Job Type: Full-Time Salaried Exempt
Salary: $44,000 annually
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am-4:30pm CT
Start Date of this position will be July 21, 2025

- Student Goal Setting & Coaching: Meets one-on-one with students to set SMART goals, create action plans, and use coaching strategies to build rapport and ensure goal achievement.
- Goal Modification & Support: Assesses student performance and life challenges, modifying academic and personal goals to help students reach their potential.
- Collaboration with Students & Staff: Partners with students and staff to identify actions that address academic barriers and improve student performance.
- Community Partnerships & Resources: Builds networks with community partners to connect students to wrap-around services and post-secondary opportunities.
- Data Tracking & Program Success: Tracks student data to set goals, monitor progress, and contribute to school-wide success in graduation, enrollment, and retention.
- Degree & Credentials: Bachelor’s in psychology, social work, human relations, education, or related fields.
- Communication Skills: Strong oral, written, visual, and listening abilities for effective interaction.
- Student Engagement: Strengths-based, student-centered approach with the ability to give constructive feedback.
- Meeting Facilitation: Skilled in managing productive meetings, resolving conflicts, and ensuring follow-through.
- Collaborative Relationships: Builds and sustains partnerships for support, information, and assistance.
